Escape the crowds clogging Florence and lose yourself in the vineyards of Chianti, indulging in some of the food and wine that have made Tuscany the gastronomic capital it is today.
Our journey begins at a medieval castle turned winery where we will travel through the tunnels of the wine cellar, before sitting down to a wine tasting overlooking the gardens.
After our late morning aperitif, we will travel into the heart of Chianti to a family owned farm, well renowned for their excellent prosciutto and other pork products for a home-cooked lunch featuring the farm’s own Cinta Senese, the top Italian breed of pork, prized for its fat and its flavor, and recently rescued from near extinction.
Our lunch begins with a selection of the farm’s salumi, featuring prosciutto, finochiona, the local specialty flavored with fennel seeds, and other cured meats, accompanied by wine, before being followed by fresh pasta with homemade ragu.
After lunch we will have some free time to explore one of the classic medieval hill towns of Chianti, before returning to Florence, enjoying a scenic drive through the vineyards.
